
Cleveland Heights, OH—Dr. Andrew E. Sloan, MD, is being
recognized in the field of Medicine by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle
Lifetime Achiever for his role as a Surgeon and Cancer Specialist at the UH
Cleveland Medical Center. Leading an impressive career for over 22 years, Dr. Sloan is
one of the top surgeons in Ohio. He joined University Hospitals and Case
Western Reserve University in 2007. He is a board certified neurosurgeon,
physician-scientist, and educator at the UH Cleveland Medical Center and the UH
Seidman Cancer Center. His areas of expertise include the neurosurgical
management of brain cancer, immunotherapy, laser interstitial thermotherapy,
stereotactic radiosurgery, and spinal oncology. His clinical research focuses
on the biology and treatment of tumors of the brain and spine. He notes that he
has always been fascinated by the bouth the brain and cancer.
Dr. Sloan earned a BS in Biology at Yale University (Magna
Cum Laude) as well as an MD at Harvard Medical School. He served an internship
in general surgery and a neurosurgical residency at UCLA, completing a
fellowship in neurosurgical oncology at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in
Houston.
In addition to serving in his current role, as Vice Chairman
of Neurosurgery and Director of both the Brain Tumor & Neuro-Oncology
Center and the Center of Excellence for Translational Neuro-Oncology, he also
serves on the editorial board of several neurosurgical and scientific journals.
To remain abreast of the latest developments, he is active in national surgical
organizations such as the American Association of Neurological Surgery (AANS),
the Adult Brain Tumor Consortium (ABTC), the Congress of Neurosurgery (CNS) and
the NRG Consortium.
Dr. Sloan has regularly appeared on national broadcasts as a
brain cancer expert. He has also been recognized by his peers as one of the
“Best Doctors in America” since 2003, as well as one of the “Top Surgeons in
America” since 2007. In 2014, he was elected as the president of the Ohio State
Neurosurgical Society (OSNS).
On top of these accomplishments, Dr. Sloan has written over
190 publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as numerous editorials,
reviews, and book chapters and has presented over 525 presentations at national
meetings. He has more than 20 years of grant funding by the ASCO, ABTA, ABTC,
the NIH, and others and currently holds four patents and investigational new
drug applications (IND).
When Dr. Sloan isn’t practicing medicine, he enjoys spending
time with his family and swimming.
