Bunny Higgins, a visionary leader and advocate, has dedicated over two decades to empowering adults with developmental disabilities through her role as Executive Director of Heartstrings Community Foundation. Since 2001, Ms. Higgins has been instrumental in fostering independence and self-worth by providing employment opportunities and job coaching for adults with developmental disabilities, helping them integrate successfully into the workforce.
Heartstrings Community Foundation, based in Olathe, Kansas, is an organization focused on creating meaningful employment experiences and offering personalized job coaching. Under Ms. Higgins’ leadership, the foundation has grown into a trusted resource for individuals and their families, promoting inclusion and making a tangible impact in the community.
Ms. Higgins holds a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Education and Services and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Emporia State University. She is also John Maxwell Leadership certified, underscoring her dedication to personal growth and effective leadership. Her expertise in coaching and leadership has been vital in advancing the foundation’s mission and cultivating an inclusive workplace culture.
In addition to her professional work, Ms. Higgins is actively involved in her community. She volunteers with organizations dedicated to feeding and clothing the homeless and participates in various initiatives through her church. A member of the Executive Director Institute and Nonprofit Connect, she remains committed to professional development and collaboration with other leaders in the nonprofit sector.
