He has been noted as the editor of the publication, Rust Diseases of Willow and Poplar, and is affiliated with the Association of Applied Biology- Editorial Board, the Society of Biolog, and the British Society of Plant Pathology.
Throughout his educational career, Dr. McCracken has earned his Ph.D. from Queens University of Belfast, and his B.S. from the University of Strathclyde.
