
Louisville, KY ‒ George H. Raque, MD, is being recognized by
Continental Who’s Who as a Trusted Neurological Surgeon for his eminent work in
the medical field and in recognition of his role at the Norton Neuroscience
Institute.
George H. Raque has treated and operated on thousands of
patients throughout his 35 years as a neurosurgeon and his 13 years with Norton
Neuroscience Institute. He performs surgeries for spine disorders, stroke,
peripheral nerve surgery, spinal and brain tumors, and other intracranial
abnormalities. Known for his compassion, Dr. Raque takes time and personal
interest to understand each patient’s individual needs when determining a plan
of treatment. He ensures his patients know every facet of their diagnosis,
treatment options, and what to expect if surgery is necessary.
At Norton Neuroscience Institute, Dr.
Raque works with a team of 75 nationally recognized neurologists and
neurosurgeons dedicated to providing care to those with brain, spine, and
nervous system conditions. Dr. Raque has access to advanced surgical and
diagnostic equipment to assist him in diagnosing and tailoring treatment
options using the least invasive methods possible to accelerate healing and
minimizing pain and discomfort.
Dr. Raque attended the University of Louisville, School of Medicine to prepare
for his career in medicine. During his time there, he earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Biology, a Master of Science degree in Anatomy, and completed his
Medical degree in 1983. He then pursued a general surgery internship and
Neurosurgery residency at the University of Louisville, School of Medicine
followed by a Fellowship in spine surgery at the Leatherman Spine Institute. He
became board-certified in Neurological Surgery in 1995 by the American Board of
Neurological Surgery (ABNS), a group dedicated to advancing the standards and
quality of neurological surgery and public health.
Dr. Raque is affiliated with numerous organizations in the medical community,
including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of
Neurological Surgeons and the Kentucky Medical Association. He also was the
Kentucky representative of the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies and is
the past president of the Kentucky Neurosurgical Society. He served as Chief of
Surgery for Norton Hospital and President of the Norton Healthcare system
medical staff (2500 physicians) for 6 years.
He practices at the Norton and Norton Children’s Hospitals in Louisville. Dr.
Raque has over 35 years of experience, and has been in his current role working
in a group practice for 13 years.
As a respected and awarded professional in his field, Dr.
Raque is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011- 2018, 2020),
Patients’ Choice Award (2011, 2012, 2014-2018, 2020), Top 10 Doctor – Metro
Area (2014), Top 10 Doctor – City (2014), Top 10 Doctor – State (2014), the
Compassionate Doctor Award – 5 Year Honoree (2015-2018, 2020), and the
Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award (2020).
When he isn’t performing neurosurgery, Dr. Raque and his
wife, Mrs. Karen Raque, enjoy breeding and showing American Saddlebred Horses.
Over many years, their farm has produced four World Champion horses. Dr. Raque
and Mrs. Raque have been married for 46 years. They have a daughter together,
Kathleen Raque, MD, who is a breast oncology surgeon in Cincinnati. In
addition, Dr. Raque contributes to multiple charitable causes.
