JACQUELINE N. WILLIAMS, MD, FASAM, FAPA - PSYCHIATRIST

Atlanta, GA – Jacqueline N. Williams, MD, FASAM, FAPA is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Top Psychiatrist for her exceptional work in Addiction Psychiatry.  

 

With over 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Williams is well-versed in the fields of psychiatry and addiction medicine. Her interests include minority women health care and substance abuse disorders. 

 

She treats various disorders related to mood, cognition, behavior, and perceptions. She helps diagnose and treat her patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Dr. Williams does a psychiatric evaluation on each patient to determine their needs. She then prescribes medication (when indicated), and evaluates treatment results over time. 

 

Dr. Williams received her Bachelor of Arts from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, in Psychology Pre-Med. In 2006, she graduated from UMDNJ- Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Camden, NJ, with a Medical Degree. She completed her residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. She served as the Medical College of Georgia’s Chief Resident in the Psychiatry & Health Behavior Department from 2009-2010.  

 

She is board-certified in both Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. In addition, she is a diplomat of the American Board of Preventive Medicine, which issues a Certificate of Special Knowledge in the specialty of addiction medicine.

 

In order to remain up to date in the field of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry, she is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (FASAM) and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA). She is a member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, American Medical Association, National Medical Association, and National Alumnae Association of Spelman College. She has been awarded Top Psychiatrist of Atlanta for her dedication to Psychiatry. 

 

Dr. Williams has been serving as a staff psychiatrist at the Atlanta Veteran’s Association since 2012. The Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA) is the most extensive integrated health care system in the U.S. 

 

She enjoys the quote, “To whom much is given, much is required.” In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends. She considers herself a “foodie”. 

 

Dr. Williams would like to thank Ms. Joan Wright, Lt. Col John Wardle, Dr. Lisa Hibbard, Dr. Janice Johnson, and all the other mentors who lent their skill/ talent to her.  She would like to dedicate this recognition to her partner Kenneth J. Nesbitt and daughter Azania, thanking them for their love and support, and In Loving Memory of her grandfather.
