Dr. Jed F. Calata, a distinguished expert in colorectal surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery, is making significant strides in the field of medicine. Currently serving at Froedtert Hospital & Medical College of Wisconsin as part of his dedication to teaching and patient care, Dr. Calata specializes in advanced colorectal surgeries for cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases, and motility issues.

With a robust educational background, Dr. Calata earned his BS in Biology from St. Joseph's University and his MD from Jefferson Medical College. He completed his general surgical residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a fellowship in colorectal surgery at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Illinois. Dr. Calata holds dual board certifications in general and colorectal surgery, reflecting his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and surgical excellence.

Dr. Calata's professional affiliations include memberships in the Central Surgical Association, Association of Surgical Education, and Association of Academic Surgeons. He is actively involved with the Philippine Society of Colorectal Surgeons in Manila, where he volunteers his expertise for educational initiatives. Additionally, Dr. Calata will be speaking at the Peruvian College of Surgeons, furthering his contributions to global surgical education.

Throughout his career, Dr. Calata has been recognized for his exceptional patient care in colorectal surgeries, particularly for cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases, and motility disorders. His dedication extends beyond clinical practice to include impactful healthcare improvements in countries such as El Salvador, Dominican Republic, and Rwanda.   He has also distinguished himself as a surgical educator earning multiple distinctions such as the Medical College of Wisconsin Ernest O. Henschel Clinical Teaching Award and the Society of Teaching Scholars Edward J. Lennon award.  

In his personal life, Dr. Calata enjoys cooking, traveling, recreational soccer, and supporting his favorite sports teams. He attributes much of his success and gratitude to his parents, Eliseo Calata, MD, and Antonieta Calata, RN, for their unwavering support.

Dr. Calata's relentless pursuit of excellence in colorectal surgery and his commitment to global healthcare improvement underscore his leadership and dedication in the medical community.
