Lubbock, TX — Jeff Dodson Headrick, MD, is being recognized
by Continental Who's Who as a Distinguished
Healthcare Professional in the Orthopedic Surgery field and in
acknowledgment of his work with the Center for Orthopedic Surgery.
A board-certified orthopedic surgeon with decades of
experience in his field, Dr. Jeff Headrick joined the Center for Orthopedic
Surgery in 2005 after serving 20 years in the United States Navy.
Fellowship-trained in adult hip and knee replacement surgery, he specializes in
robotic hip and knee replacement surgeries. The orthopedic specialist also has
extensive experience in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, and
other sports medicine techniques. He is also highly skilled in the latest
treatment options for young arthritic patients.
Dr. Headrick was the first orthopedic surgeon to perform a
direct-anterior hip replacement in Lubbock, TX, in 2011. This minimally
invasive approach for a total hip replacement typically causes less pain and
quicker recovery times for patients eligible for the procedure. Dr. Headrick
also pioneered the first use of robotics in orthopedic surgery in Lubbock in
2014.
A graduate of the US Naval Academy with a Bachelor of
Science in Ocean Engineering, Dr. Headrick served as a Nuclear Engineer Officer
in the submarine service for five years. In pursuit of his medical education,
he earned his Medical Degree from Texas Tech Medical School, and then completed
his internship at Balboa Naval Hospital. He then completed the Phoenix
Orthopedic Residency Program in 1996.
Following his training, Dr. Headrick served as an orthopedic
surgeon with the US Marines at Camp Lejeune, overseas at the US Naval Hospital
in Guam, US Naval Hospital Portsmouth, and aboard the hospital ship USNS
Comfort during wartime. He later completed advanced studies in reconstructive
joint replacement surgery as an Otto E. Aufranc Fellow at the highly acclaimed
New England Baptist Hospital. The year-long fellowship included
state-of-the-art early intervention techniques for arthritis associated with
Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital.
The doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and has
completed two re-certifications by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
Among his many accolades, Dr. Headrick has been a three-time recipient of the
Compassionate Doctor Recognition and a two-time winner of the Patients' Choice
Award.
Dr. Headrick says the key to his success has been his deep
faith in God and the great love, support and encouragement he received from his
wife, the late Suzan Headrick. Away from work, Dr. Headrick enjoys spending
time with his five children. He loves traveling, scuba diving, snow skiing, and
staying in good physical condition.
