Karen Y. Rands, MBA, is a nationally recognized leader in angel & crowdfund venture investing and entrepreneurship, known for her pioneering work in empowering both entrepreneurs and investors to create wealth with purpose, passion, and profit. She is the founder of Kugarand Capital Holdings,  an organization that combines consulting, strategic advisory services, and education to accelerate business growth and inspire investment in innovative companies.

With more than 24 years of experience in finance, technology, and venture capital, Ms. Rands specializes in angel investing, capital strategy, and entrepreneurial development. She has helped countless business owners secure funding and scale their companies while equipping investors with tools to thoughtfully expand their investment portfolios through private equity investments. Her efforts have expanded beyond North America, reaching into EMEA markets.

Ms. Rands holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in English from Emory University and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Florida. In 2024, she was certified as a Women-Owned Small Business by the U.S. Federal Government Small Business Administration (SBA), further strengthening her role as an advocate for women in business. She is an active member and mentor with TiE Atlanta, the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, and was recently named as “Entrepreneur-in-Residence” at the Georgia Office of Innovation’s South Atlanta entrepreneur incubator, Launch Fayette to provide coaching for capital strategy and access to capital.
