LENI S. BERLINER - PRESIDENT

Washington, D.C./ Continental Who’s Who/- Leni S. Berliner is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of  Sustainability Consulting as a result of her role as President of Energy Farms International, a prominent provider of advisory services for financiers and technology providers, land and property owners, and policymakers.

Since its inception in 2006, Energy Farms International has  offered valuable support and guidance through consultative services. The company’s mission is to support the growth of the sustainable economy by addressing clients’ most critical business needs and bridging the gap between engineers and investors, property developers and land owners, and legislators and alternative and renewable energy specialists.

Ms. Berliner draws on her 30 years of professional experience, to help clients identify and execute competitive positioning strategies, market analysis and regulatory analysis. She assists clients with corporate and organizational development by defining the critical path and resources needed, and by creating processes for project and portfolio development, coordination of commercial contracts, risk management, and investment and divestment decisions. In addition, Leni advises clients about sustainability issues, including economic diversification and small enterprise development, energy conservation, use of renewable sources of power, and coordination with environmental protection and conservation programs.

Leni has amassed numerous professional accomplishments throughout her career, beginning with her  international internship with UNEP in 1978, a first for her graduate program.  She is proud of several of her professional accomplishments, especially related to the mining company in the early 90’s and her previous work in private sector and financial services development. Leni also derives great satisfaction in serving as mentor to start-up businesses under the auspices of the Clean Tech Open (a business accelerator).

Prior to earning a Master's Degree in Public and International Affairs with a Concentration in Economic and Social Development from the University of Pittsburgh. She also graduated as a Commonwealth Scholar with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, Magna cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is currently a member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds and the Clean Technology and Sustainable Industries Organization and is a past member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, and the Women's Council on Energy and Environment.

When asked how she would counsel younger professionals seeking “green jobs”, her advice is to get the broadest and deepest possible preparation without taking on crippling debt.      Especially students need to learn about and be open to working in different kinds of organizations. She urges newcomers to consider fields that may be temporarily less popular, but which require one to use both sides of the brain, such as urban planning and industrial engineering.
