Mr. Cullen pursued higher education at Bloomfield College where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1984. He then attended Farleigh Dickinson University where he obtained an MBA in Finance and later became certified in the Personal Leadership & Organizational Culture Masterclass from WOBI.
Considered an expert in business development; sales; organizational development; marketing; management; and leadership, Mr. Cullen has more than 30 years of experience in many professional positions. He began his career in corporate finance at Hoffman La-Roche in 1973 and advanced through various departments, including accounts payable, cost accounting, internal audit, and financial planning. He transferred to the Marketing Department of the Vitamins & Fine Chemicals Division as a Product Manager in 1986 and was Business Unit Manager at F. Hoffmann La-Roche in Basel Switzerland from January 1990 to October 1993. Mr. Cullen was Director of the Pharmaceutical Business Unit at Hoffman La-Roche from November 1993 to November 1995 and later served as the Vice President at M.W. International from December 1995 to June 2000. He became executive Vice President at Buckton Scott Nutrition from June 2000 to November 2005, and then the President of Lycored from December 2005 to June 2007. He has been in his current position since August 2022.
Additional leadership positions contributing to his expertise include various posts at Kyowa Hakko USA where he spent 14 years and 7 months and Vice President of Sales and Marketing from September 2007 to September 2012. He was promoted to Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing where he served from July 2012 to December 2015 and became the President & CEO at Kyowa Hakko USA from January 2016 to March 2022.
Dedicated to staying abreast of advancements in the field, Mr. Cullen is affiliated with several organizations, including IFT, CRN, AICPA, and the Knights of Columbus. His areas of expertise include business development; sales; organizational development; marketing; management; and leadership.
Aside from his professional pursuits, Mr. Cullen considers his family, including his two children and five grandchildren, as his greatest accomplishment in life. He takes pride in being the only non-Japanese President & CEO at Kyowa Hakko during his tenure there.
