Oxford, PA—Lisa M. Shelton is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of her contributions to the field of Accounting at Shelton’s Pallet Co.
Shelton’s Pallet Co. distributes pallets to retailers in
Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey. The company has been in business for 45
years and also operates a satellite location at the Port of Wilmington in
Wilmington, Delaware. Shelton’s also recycles old pallets that are unrepairable
and uses that material to make mulch as a bi-product. This helps dispose of waste and it also
allows it to be recycled and used for other purposes. The mulch is sold to
landscapers and people all over the community.
As Treasurer/Account Manager of Shelton’s Pallet Co. in her hometown of Oxford,
PA, Shelton utilizes her experience in accounting and office management.
Shelton has worked in her current role for the past 3 years following the
passing of her mother-in-law, who owned and ran the business prior to Shelton
taking over office operations. Shelton has
also attended Cecil College for continued education.
After years of revamping the business, the pieces have finally fallen
into place. Everyone works differently. The office desperately needed upgrading so
that is what was done. New software for the company, adding a server and
maintaining a system that links everyone all together has made things easier
and has saved a lot of time. Keeping up
with the latest technology is very important. She has also taken on advertising duties for
the business and recently added a website which finally got Shelton’s Pallet Co.
on the web and on social media. Shelton
is always looking for new ways to get her company’s name out to the public. Shelton’s
is also compliant to work with the federal government.
Her husband (Chuck) maintains the outside operations while she looks after the office duties including all accounting and HR responsibilities. Her son, Aaron, also working in the family business as a mechanic, graduated from Universal Technical Institute (UTI) and received the honor of being inducted into the National Honor Society. He has also just completed boot camp for the United States Air Force where he was also awarded Honor Grad. He continues to work for the family business and will be going back to Texas to complete his training for the military. Shelton also has an 11-year-old daughter Chloe whom is in 6th grade in the Oxford Area School District. Her passion is horses!
It has taken 3 full years to learn all the responsibilities
that are required for this position. “None of this would’ve been possible
without a phenomenal team of professionals to help her along the way,” Lisa
said. “You have to have a support team of accountants, attorneys and financial
advisors to help direct you.” Lisa
credits her success this year to Simon Lever, LLC, [Corinne Bush], Winifred M.
Sebastian, Esquire and the Chartered Advisory Group, Inc.
A graduate of 1988 Harcum College earning an Associate of Applied Science
degree, Shelton has been recently recognized by the National Association of
Professional Women as a member of the VIP Woman of the Year Circle. Prior to
inheriting her current role, she completed several years at Commodore Computer
and then worked at Lincoln University. She finally ended up at the University
of Pennsylvania for 13 years before to transitioning into a new role as a
stay-at-home mom.
Shelton is dedicated to giving back to her community and is a member of several
associations. She supports the Lighthouse Youth Center, is a member of the
ASPCA, PETA and many other animal programs. Her family also maintains and
supports a relationship with her local police and the local Masonic Lodge #353.
When not working, Shelton enjoys horseback riding, traveling and spending time
with her family. She dedicates this recognition to her husband, Chuck, their
children, Chloe and Aaron, and to the loving memory of Helen and Dave Shelton.
