Louise Akers, S.C., D. Min. is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a 2013 Professional of the Year.

Cincinnati, OH/ Continental Who’s Who/- Louise Akers, S.C., D. Min. is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a 2013 Professional of the Year among Justice Advocates. Louise is a Justice Educator with Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati.

As a Justice Educator, Louise is responsible for presenting numerous workshops, courses and reflection days on justice related issues. In the past, her ministries have included justice education and advocacy in formal classroom teaching on both the high school and university levels. In addition, she has served as parish coordinator in the Archdiocesan Social Action Office of Cincinnati, and was the founder and coordinator of Cincinnati’s Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center. In addition, Louise served as social concerns director of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious.

Throughout her career, Louise has had multiple ministry opportunities. These opportunities include working with migrant farm workers, involvement with the civil rights and women’s movements along with international experiences in Malawi-Africa, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Mexico, Czechoslovakia, East and West Germany, Italy, Mondragon, Spain, Beijing, China, and Paris.

In 1974 her master’s thesis in theology focused on the “Prophecy of Martin L. King, Jr.”, and in 1996 she completed her Doctor of Ministry with a project entitled “Patriarchal Power and the Pauperization of Women”. Louise received her Doctor of Ministry Degree from Episcopal Divinity School, as well as her M.A. in Theology from the University of Dayton. In addition, Louise holds a B.A. in History from the College of Mt. St. Joseph.
