Michael Shelby, CEO of Shelby Accounting Services LLC, is a seasoned financial leader with over 25 years of experience in tax planning, regulatory compliance, and strategic accounting. Through his full-service accounting firm, he delivers tailored financial solutions to individuals and businesses, including those in complex industries such as cannabis and drone technology.
In addition to managing his firm, Mr. Shelby serves as lead senior accountant for DroneUp LLC, where he oversees regulatory compliance, inventory and fixed asset management, and monthly financial close operations. His dual roles reflect his versatility across both entrepreneurial ventures and corporate finance.
Mr. Shelby holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in real estate and mortgage finance from Mississippi State University and earned a master's degree in accountancy from Purdue University in 2014. He is certified in Cannabis Accounting and Regulatory Compliance through Dope CFO, a nationally recognized authority on cannabis finance.
His professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Phi Beta Kappa, and Dope CFO. Over the years, he has led multi-state financial compliance projects, provided advisory services to emerging companies, and championed best practices in accounting across diverse industries.
Outside of work, Mr. Shelby enjoys spending time with his family, visiting the beach, playing chess, reading, and watching movies. He attributes his success to the work ethic and determination instilled in him by his father.
Looking ahead, Mr. Shelby plans to expand his firm through strategic client acquisition and mergers. He also aims to launch a real estate development venture and two nonprofit organizations—one focused on student debt relief and the other supporting veterans with PTSD.
