Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Tholen boasts over 31 years of
experience providing the highest-quality, innovative cosmetic surgery available
in the Metropolitan-Minnesota Area. Gifted in producing natural-looking results
that are in harmony with the rest of the face, Dr. Tholen has completed
extensive training, perfecting the art and science of plastic surgery. Well
regarded in his field, Dr. Tholen has authored multiple journal articles as
well as two book chapters in peer-reviewed Plastic Surgical literature. He has
written and presented over 150 papers on all aspects of cosmetic surgery and
other surgical topics as a visiting professor, invited lecturer and panelist,
individually and at National Plastic Surgery Conferences.

a Bachelor of Science in Math and Physics. He went on to University of Kansas
for his Doctor of Medicine and subsequently completed a 5-year general Surgery
Residency at the Mayo Clinic. He remained at this facility for an additional
2-year fellowship in Plastic Surgery. Dr. Tholen is an esteemed member of the
American Society of Plastic Surgeons, International Society of Plastic
Surgeons, Fellow American College of Surgeons (FACS), and the American Society of Esthetic Plastic
Surgery.
In recognition of a successful career, Dr. Tholen has been honored by his
inclusion in the Best Plastic Surgeons in America, Leading Physicians in the
World and peer-selected on multiple occasions as “Top Doctor” by Minneapolis /
St. Paul Magazine, most recently in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. He
also has been included in the RealSelf Top 100 for the past 4 years,
recognition awarded to the Top 100 Plastic Surgeons nationwide.
Dr. Tholen would like to dedicate this recognition, in loving memory of, his
