highly trained neurosurgeon specializing in degenerative spinal disorders and
deformities, as well as brain and spinal tumors. He has devoted the past 21
years to providing the best possible care at Neurosurgery and Spine Specialists
in Sarasota, Florida. Licensed to practice in Florida and Texas, Dr. Knego is
affiliated with Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, Cape
Surgery and Doctors Same-Day Surgery. He brings valuable leadership experience
as Chief of Surgery at Sarasota Memorial, where he was instrumental in creating
the Neuroscience department at Sarasota Memorial. In addition to his surgical
role, Dr. Knego is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida.
Among his academic achievements, Dr. Knego received his Doctor of Medicine
degree in 1988 from the University of Florida College of Medicine in
Gainesville, where he also completed his Post-Doctoral training in neurological
surgery. Dr. Knego is board certified by the American Board of Neurological
Surgery and licensed to practice in both Florida and Texas.
Remaining abreast of the latest advancements in his field, Dr. Knego is a
member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the North American
Spine Society, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the Florida State
Medical Society. He also serves on the Professional Advisory Board of the

A family man, Dr. Knego is married to his wife, a published author, and has six
kids ranging in age from 13 to 24. He and his family enjoy fishing, weight
lifting, cooking, and playing basketball. He also enjoys reading, skiing, and
