Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, on August 24, 1971, Shawnta Smith’s journey toward excellence began early on. She completed grade school with honors and decided to further her education at Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School, where she undertook a rigorous curriculum to earn her Cosmetology License in 1989. This hands-on work ethic laid a solid foundation for a life of learning, leadership, and service.
Today, Shawnta is celebrated as one of Central Texas’s top real estate professionals; however, her story encompasses much more than just sales and contracts. Her success is deeply rooted in resilience, versatility, and an unwavering commitment to others. As the proud wife of a retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 of the United States Army, Shawnta has been a steadfast supporter of over 30 years of military service while raising seven children, three of whom have served, with two currently on active duty.
Her own record of service is equally inspiring. Shawnta completed training as an Army Family Team Building Instructor, where she taught essential skills that enable military families to not just survive but thrive in Army life and beyond. This role ignited her passion for mentorship and community involvement, prompting her to volunteer with organizations like VFW Post #9365, Pikes Peak Lodge #473, and Columbine Temple #1053 (Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the World, Inc.). She is currently involved with Life Restored San Antonio, a nonprofit founded by Carolyn A. Thomas, dedicated to assisting survivors of sex trafficking.
Throughout her life, Shawnta has embraced various roles with pride and professionalism. She served as an Armed Security Officer at three military installations, where she earned the rank of Sergeant, before transitioning into healthcare as a Certified Dental Assistant and Lead Assistant to a Maxillofacial Surgeon. Eventually, she became a Dental Instructor at ECPI University in Hampton, Virginia, where she also earned her associate degree in health science.
Her journey ultimately led her to real estate, inspired by her own home-buying experience in 2007. As a military spouse, she moved numerous times across the country, gaining firsthand insight into the emotional, financial, and logistical challenges associated with relocation. Today, she channels that knowledge and empathy into every client relationship. Shawnta is renowned for her unmatched work ethic, compassion, and commitment to helping families navigate the process of finding their homes.
