Naugatuck, CT—Continental Who’s Who recognizes Stanley J. Dudrick, M.D., F.A.C.S., as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of his contributions to the field of medicine.
Dr. Dudrick brings close to 50 years of experience to The Commonwealth Medical College, where he works as a Professor of General Surgery. Inspired to enter the medical field following his mother’s battle with rheumatic fever, he was indelibly impressed with his mother’s physicians and their ability to cure her. “They were absolutely amazing,” Dr. Dudrick said.
Serving in his current position at TCMC for four years, Dr. Dudrick also serves as the Founding Medical Director of the Physician Assistant Program at Misericordia University, and is a Professor Emeritus of Surgery at Yale University. He completed his own medical studies and General Surgery training at the University of Pennsylvania.
In keeping with his impressive resume, Dr. Dudrick is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Surgical Association, the Society of University Surgeons and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (Founding President). He has received more than 100 honors and awards, and he also has contributed over 800 articles to a plethora of medical journals and textbooks.
Dr. Dudrick attributes his success to the following philosophy: “work hard, keep your head down and keep your mouth shut.” He advises young, aspiring doctors to follow “the four A’s: be available, affable, able, and have a good attitude.” Additionally, Dr. Dudrick subscribes to the 11th Commandment: “Thou shalt do everything to achieve your God-given potential to the maximum extent that your talent can allow you to do.”
When not working, Dr. Dudrick enjoys reading, writing, “tinkering,” sailing, kayaking, and spending time with his wife, Theresa, their six children (one of whom followed in his footsteps and became a cancer surgeon), sixteen grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. He dedicates this recognition to his wife, his parents, his grandparents, and to his mentors, Fred Snavely, Professor of Chemistry, Harry Lane, Professor of Anatomy, and Jonathan Evans Rhoads, Professor of Surgery.
