Manalapan, NJ— Vijay Halari is being recognized by
Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Life Member for his exceptional work as a
family medicine physician.
Dr Halari earned a BS in an accelerated medical combined
program from Manipal University in 2010 and received his medical degree from
the American University of Antigua/Kasturba Medical College in India. Dr.
Halari was born in Burbank, Illinois but moved to New Jersey at an early age,
he continued his education there, finishing high school in Manalapan, NJ after
he moved there in 2010. He returned to New Jersey to complete his residency in
Family Medicine at CentraState Medical Center in 2019, which is associated with
Rutgers/Robert Wood Johnson. Dr. Halari earned board certification in family
medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). According to Dr.
Halari, the ABFM is a non-profit independent medical association of American
physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.
As a family physician, Dr. Halari provides out-patient care
to people aged 16 and up. He sees patients for pre-operative and wellness
examinations, chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, and some
mental health issues. He spends time with each patient, educating them on their
conditions and the medications necessary to maintain good health working at HMH
Primary Care / Cedarbridge Medical Associates in Brick Township New Jersey. His
practice is affiliated with Ocean University Medical Center, as he provided
outpatient care. There he provides comprehensive care ranging from adolescents
to geriatric patients. Patients with concerns regarding hypertension, diabetes,
high cholesterol, or needing minor procedures are welcome to the practice. Dr.
Halari shows concern about the patient’s disease healing and quality of life.
He believes that two-way communication is the key to good health. He also
believes that the patient-provider relationship should be built on mutual trust
and that it plays a crucial part in providing care. His mantra is, “it is your
body you call the shots, I will provide guidance, information, to help you make
the best decision possible.”
While studying abroad, Dr. Halari participated in extracurricular
programs such as Manipal Students Aiding in India’s Development (MSAID) in
Manipal India 2006 – 2008; Alpha Theta Sigma in Manipal India 2008 – 2010; and
Peer Mentorship in Manipal India 2007 – 2010; and Student Council in Manipal
India 2007 – 2008. Dr. Halari is certified by the Educational Commission for
Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). He has certifications in National Institutes
of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO),
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS), and
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Dr. Halari has served as a research assistant for Dr.
Padmaja Upadya at St. Joseph’s Pediatric Outpatient Surgical Center (July 2015
– June 2016) on the following research projects: “Pediatric Dental Anesthesia
and Outcome on Post-Op Delirium Duration” and “What do doctors think about
patient financial status and its influence on medication & treatment”. He
also served as a clinical research coordinator for Dr. Ashok Patel at BioBehavioral
Health (July 2015 – June 2016) in a Phase 3 Randomized Double-blind
Placebo-Controlled Study of LY2951742 in Patients with Episodic Migraine.
Dr. Halari is an active member of the American Academy of
Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American College of
Physicians, and the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians. According to Dr.
Halari, family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health
care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or
family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when
seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range
of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or
appropriate facility. They are known as the “quarterback” of the medical team
that can begin to provide an all-inclusive care and coordinate treatment
between specialists.
Dr. Halari has conducted many presentations including
Internet Search Patterns by State after the Identification of Foodborne
Outbreaks by CDC; NJAFP Scientific Assembly; Caesar’s Palace Atlantic City,
Fibromyalgia: A Holistic Approach to Care and Management (June 15 2018); West
Windsor Senior Center Colorectal Screening (May 22 2018); Howell Senior Center
Medicare Annual Wellness Visit (April 24 2018); Greenbriar at Monroe Medicare
Annual Wellness Visit (March 8 2018); and Howell Senior Center (December 5
2017). He has also served as co-president of the GMEC Residency Council
Committee from July 2018 until June 2019. As a volunteer, Dr. Halari served at
Centrastate Medical Center in Freehold New Jersey in 2006 where his
responsibilities included patient transport, patient care, and patient social
interactions. He also attended seminars for treatment strategies, lifestyle
modifications, and hospital care efficiency, and offered supplemental
assistance to nursing and hospital staff, such as physician nurses, and
administration officials. The doctor was also a medical representative at the
Hispanic Coalition Health Fair in West Windsor, New Jersey in 2013, where he
conducted multitudes of medical procedures from clinical examinations to
measuring blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and basic blood chemistries. He
also informed and educated patients on how to use home medical devices and
emphasized the importance of medical management.
The doctor has participated in community outreach in the
town of Freehold, NJ, and with the Hispanic Coalition, training high school
students on basic medical procedures.
Dr. Halari attributes his success to 80% hard work, 10%
family support, 5% relaxation, and 5% luck. He enjoys spending time with his
family, especially playing with his two young boys & dog, his wife, Mrs.
Khyati Halari, of eight years, biking, billards, and watching movies. He has
traveled to locations such as Dubai and India. His new travel endeavors include
Bali, Maldives, and Europe. He speaks several languages including English,
Gujarati, and Hindi.
