Dr. West, an esteemed obstetrician-gynecologist, has devoted more than twenty years to delivering outstanding healthcare services to the regions of Northern Alabama and the Tennessee Valley. Her dedication to the reproductive health of women and her steadfast commitment to providing excellent patient care has earned her the respect and garnered her the confidence of both patients and colleagues.  

With an extensive background in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. West provides an array of medical services pertaining to the reproductive health of women. Gynecological examinations, prenatal care, childbirth, surgical services for various conditions and menopausal management are just some of the areas in which she possesses extensive expertise.

Dr. West has had a distinguished academic career. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Howard University with honors graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 1997, she graduated from Meharry Medical College with honors graduating Summa Cum Laude, further demonstrating her commitment to education. Her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology was successfully concluded at the esteemed Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. West commenced her professional journey with a noble commitment to the National Health Service Corps. She performed her duties at a Huntsville, Alabama Federally Qualified Health Center, where she concentrated on underserved populations. Her formative years served as the precursor to her subsequent contributions to the discipline.

Dr. West initiated her professional career as an independent obstetrician/gynecologist in 2004 by establishing Essential Health, PC. Following this, the initial clinic became a prototype for comprehensive and compassionate healthcare tailored to women in the surrounding area, serving as the foundation for subsequent establishments.

Dr. West has held numerous medical positions throughout her distinguished career, including physician at Huntsville Hospital, Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University's Student Health Center, Premier OBGYN LLC, and South Huntsville OBGYN. She has held positions of authority including Medical Director of the Obstetric Emergency Department and Program for Inpatient Hospitalists.

Dr. West is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG). Her pursuit of a Fellowship in the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM), further demonstrates her dedication to the principles and practices of holistic medicine. She is an ardent proponent of individualized and holistic healthcare, with the goal of delivering all-encompassing and patient-focused provisions.

One of the forthcoming endeavors of Dr. West is the establishment of her fourth gynecologic practice. By integrating Western medicine with Integrative Medicine principles, she intends to provide a more comprehensive and holistic approach to healthcare by combining her Integrative Medicine education with her current practices. Dr. West adheres to the tenet of treating every patient as a member of her own family.

Dr. West expresses heartfelt gratitude to her daughters for their unwavering affection, patience, and assistance. Their steadfast support has played a pivotal role in helping her navigate the demands of a busy schedule and a challenging work life.
