OH - Yvonne Adeduni Efebera, MD, MPH is being recognized by Continental Who’s
Who as a Distinguished
Hematologist-Oncologist and Blood and Marrow Transplant Physician, for her
work in the Medical field and in recognition of her work at OhioHealth Physician
Group: Blood and Marrow Transplant/Hematology.
Highly
trained in Hematology and Oncology, Dr Efebera is an international leader who
is focused on clinical work and research experience in blood and marrow
transplantation. Her areas of interest include B-cell lymphoid malignancies,
multiple myeloma amyloidosis, Waldenstrom’s disease, and peripheral blood stem
cell and bone marrow transplant.
To
receive her education, she attended the University of the District of Columbia,
where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She then earned
her MD from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 1998. Dr.
Efebera then took on an Internal Medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic in
2001. She next completed two fellowships: a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology
at Boston University in 2008, and a Fellowship in Blood and Bone Marrow
Transplant at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2009. She
joined the faculty staff at Ohio State University (OSU) from August 2009 to March
2021, then OhioHealth as Director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant and
Cellular Therapy Program. While at OSU, Dr. Efebera received a Masters of
Public Health (MPH) degree.
As
a result of her years of training, she is board-certified in Internal Medicine
and Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
She
is an active member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society
of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Transplant and Cellular Therapy,
the International Society for Amyloidosis, the International Myeloma Work
Group, and the American College of Physicians.
On
a personal note, to give back to her community, she participates in community
service through St. John’s AME Church, where she gives speaking engagements about
multiple myeloma, cancer prevention, amyloidosis, and blood diseases to the
African-American community.
Awarded
for her 23 years in the medical field, Dr. Efebera has been named as a Top
Doctor, Regional Top Doctor, Most Honored Doctor, and Exceptional Women in
Medicine by Castle Connolly. Since 2014, she has been ranked in the top ten
percent of doctors for patient satisfaction.
She
would like to dedicate this honorable recognition In Loving Memory of her
maternal grandmother Titi Bangura-Sangarie; her mother Yeanoh Jalloh; her
adopted mother Eunice Slowe-George, her uncle Ibrahim Sangarie, her husband
Percival Vera, and her children.
